Not sure how to handle your child’s emotions?

Kids need to have their feelings acknowledged and validated. You are not spoiling or indulging your child when you pay attention to their emotions. Start by helping them identify the feeling(s) and name the emotion. Active listening and striving to understand their emotional experience will help build a healthy emotional foundation. Parents and other caregivers must be role models in changing the narrative about emotional health. If you are confused or unsure about your emotions or how to manage your child’s emotions (or behaviours), reach out to a mental health professional for help. Reaching out for help may be one of the best things you can do for yourself and your kids!
