Connecting You to Resources and Support Groups

Our mission is to connect you with valuable support groups and resources. We understand that navigating life’s challenges can be overwhelming, which is why we’ve created this hub to offer a sense of community and access to helpful information.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list—these are resources we’ve come across or have been recommended to us. If you know of a service that could benefit others, we warmly invite you to reach out and suggest additions to our list.

ADHD:

  1. Center for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC): A national charity providing leadership in awareness, education, and advocacy for ADHD across Canada. ONLINE SUPPORT GROUPS
  2. Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA): An independent, not-for-profit, resource organization for medical, healthcare and research professionals with an interest in the field of ADHD
  3. CanLearn Society: Not-for-profit agency, located in Calgary, that has been a recognized leader in the identification and treatment of learning difficulties experienced by children and adults. Individuals aged 6 through adult.
  4. CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder): CHADD offers a wealth of information, articles, webinars, and local chapter support for individuals with ADHD and their families.
  5. ADDitude Magazine: This online resource provides articles, webinars, and a community forum dedicated to ADHD-related topics, including strategies for managing symptoms.
  6. TotallyADD: A website and community created by comedian Rick Green, offering videos, articles, and forums that address various aspects of ADHD with humor and insight.
  7. ADDWareHouse: Books, assessment products and training programs for ADHD and related problems.
  8. Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA): ADDA is the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to helping adults with ADHD to live better lives.

Sleep:

  1. National Sleep Foundation: This organization provides comprehensive information on sleep disorders, tips for better sleep, and educational resources.
  2. MySleepWell: An online sleep improvement program.
  3. Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Diary: An interactive tool that helps individuals track their sleep patterns and identify factors that may contribute to sleep problems.
  4. International Directory or CBT-I Providers.

Addictions:

  1. SMART Recovery Canada: SMART Recovery is the leading, evidence-informed approach to overcoming addictive behaviours and leading a balanced life. SMART is stigma-free and emphasizes self-empowerment.
  2. SMART Recovery Meetings Alberta: SMART Recovery Meetings are non-judgmental spaces where you can connect with others for mutual support. Run by trained facilitators, they typically last between 60 and 90 minutes and are free to attend.
  3. Recovery Alberta: Alberta’s government is establishing Recovery Alberta as the largest provider of mental health and addiction services in the province.
  4. Addiction Helpline: Addiction helpline 24/7 support for Albertans experiencing addiction (including gambling). 1-866-332-2322

Anxiety:

  1. Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA): ADAA offers educational resources, articles, and a directory of mental health professionals who specialize in anxiety disorders.
  2. Mood Gym: An online cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) program for managing and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  3. Anxiety Canada: Provides self-help resources, including workbooks and guides, for managing anxiety.

General Mental Health and Well-being:

  1. Rapid Access Counselling @ Community Connect YYC: Connecting Calgary’s communities with affordable and barrier-free access to phone or video counselling sessions.
  2. Psychology Today: A website with articles, blogs, and a therapist directory that can help individuals find mental health professionals in their area.
  3. Mindful.org: Offers mindfulness and meditation resources to help manage stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being.
  4. Verywell Mind: Provides articles and resources on various mental health topics, including self-help strategies and expert advice.
  5. Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs: The labyrinth at the Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs is patterned after the Chartres Labyrinth in France. Walking the labyrinth is a metaphor for walking our life’s journey, navigating twists and turns, encountering challenges, and finding our way to the center, where we may pause for reflection, insight, and renewal. It’s a sacred space for quiet introspection, mindfulness, and connection with oneself and the world around us.

Complementary, Alternative and Integrative Health:
